Wind Power & Solar Power In Portugal
Portugal, which is forced to import over 80% of its energy needs is pressing ahead with large-scale alternative energy projects.

Portugal has given the go-ahead for a number of large-scale wind and solar power projects over the last year. With an Atlantic coastline of over 500 miles and abundant sunshine Portugal is well-suited to harnessing the power of the sun and wind.
Portugal is also developing a wave power plant off the coast at Povoa de Varzim. Wave power could supply Portugal with around 20 percent of its annual electricity needs, according to recent studies.
In 2016 Portugal supplied its energy needs for 4 consecutive days using alternative energy alone.
