The Subway in Lisbon
Lisbon's metro is a quick and easy way to get around the city.

The basic fare is 1.40 Euros or use a one day pass or Lisboa card. The older lines, which were begun in the 1950's, are showing their age, but the new line out to Gare do Oriente is clean and bright and much less grimy.
The fairly recently built stations at Cais do Sodré and Santa Apolónia are also very modern and pleasant.
The subway stations seem very close together in terms of the time taken between them.
The Lisbon subway system integrates well with Lisbon's buses and trams.
