Portugal Telecom was the main provider of land lines and telecommunication services in Portugal. In 2015 the company was acquired by Altice.
PT also provided internet services including ADSL.
Portugal Telecom also once operated in Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, China, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Morocco, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste.
Portugal Telecom was a publicly owned company and one of the largest businesses in the country.
