Windmills in Portugal, Algarve
The western Algarve can be a pretty windy place with strong breezes blowing in from the Atlantic. A number of picturesque windmills were built in the 19th century on the Algarve coast and were used as olive and corn mills. Towns with windmills in the region include Santiago do Cacém, Grândola, Odeceixe and Odemira.
