Like electric scooters, micro ebikes can also be rented on the streets of Lisbon using an app.

The two main companies renting ebikes in operation in the capital and other cities in Europe are Bird and Lime.
Bird began life in California, rival Lime with its Lime-S scooters is also from California and is owned by Uber - the taxi-hailing giant.
Uber also has lots of its distinctive red Jump electronic bicycles for hire on Lisbon's streets.

First download the apps to your phone, then the ebikes can be unlocked by scanning a QR code on the handlebars.
Scooting off into busy Lisbon traffic without wearing a helmet looks a rather, risky proposition so please take care. Lime recommends, in fact, that riders do wear a helmet.
This new means of transport on Lisbon's streets is not without its critics, however. Soon after they were introduced in October 2018, residents and travelers began to complain about them left thoughtlessly on sidewalks, blocking the way and spoiling the view.
If you do hire an ebike, please act responsibly.
