Mini Mercados in Lisbon
Many of the mini mercados (convenience stores) in Lisbon are owned and operated by immigrants, often from India, especially Portugal's former colony in Goa, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
These open all hours stores sell beer, wine, fruit and vegetables and general everyday necessities: bottled mineral water, cigarettes, coffee, feminine hygiene products, razors, sugar, tea, tinned goods, toothpaste, etc.

Some of them also act as places to store luggage if they are signed up to the luggagehero scheme. Look out for the symbol in the window: an orange suitcase with a white star.
