Estádio do Bonfim, Setúbal
The Estádio do Bonfim in Setúbal, south of Lisbon, is the home ground of local team Vitória F.C. The team is presently in the top division of the Portuguese league.
The stadium was built in the 1960s |
Constructed in 1962, the stadium is beginning to show its age somewhat. The ground has a capacity of over 15,000 spectators and is located across the road from the pleasant Jardim do Bonfim.
Estádio do Bonfim has staged the odd international game in the past but Portugal is now blessed with far more modern stadiums with larger capacities for spectators.
After the acrimonious split of Os Belenenses into B–SAD (the professional club) and C.F. Os Belenenses (the historic and now amateur club), B-SAD could no longer use Estádio do Restelo in the Belém district of Lisbon.
In February 2019, due to a temporary unavailability of the Estádio Nacional which B–SAD now rents for its home games, B-SAD rented Estádio do Bonfim for two of its home fixtures. Their match against Moreirense F.C. had a crowd of only 298 spectators, the lowest in the history of the Portuguese soccer league.
