The Mercado Municipal de Lagos (Lagos Municipal Market) in Lagos is situated right on the waterfront close to the Centro de Ciencia Viva Lagos.

The historic building, which dates from 1924 is a fun place to shop for local produce and to soak up an authentic Algarve atmosphere.
The fish market is on the ground floor and opens very early in the morning. The market also sells local fruit and vegetables, cheese, honey, meat, wine, and olive oil.
Many of the stallholders speak good English and can help you with your purchases. There's a small cafe/bar on the premises, too.
The building's south wall is covered with tile panels by the artist Xana.

The building is on three floors with pedestrian access to the Centro Ciência Viva de Lagos from the top floor.
