Hotel Condedu, Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain

A recommended place to stay in Badajoz in western Spain close to the border with Portugal is Condedu (Book this hotel with Booking.com) in the old town.

Light on the wallet, the two-star Condedu offers fairly basic but clean rooms with flat-screen TV, WiFI, private bathroom and friendly and helpful staff. There hotel has secure parking for around 10 Euros a day.

The hotel is close to several historic buildings including Badajoz Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana de San Juan Bautista de Badajoz), Convento Nuestra Señora de la Merced and Puente de Palmas, the bridge across the River Guadiana and the way to the railway station.

There is no shortage of bars and restaurants nearby especially in and around Plaza España, near the cathedral.

Try Cervecería Pepe Jerez, Restaurante Cocina Portuguesa for Portuguese cuisine or Taberna Gambrinus for Spanish snacks.

From the railway station it is a 20-25 minute walk or short taxi journey. Badajoz bus station to the south is also about the same distance on foot, just less than 2 km.
