Jardim Alfredo Keil, Praça da Alegria, Lisbon.

The Jardim Alfredo Keil (in Praça da Alegria) is a small public garden in Lisbon named after the romantic composer and painter.

Set on a terrace, the garden features exotic vegetation and a pond with a fountain. On the west side of the garden is a bust of Alfredo Keil (1850-1907), a musician, painter and poet. He is best remembered as the composer of the music for A Portuguesa, the Portuguese national anthem.

FeirAlegria takes place in the garden every fortnight with a variety of upmarket handicrafts on sale.

Also in Praça da Alegria is HotClub - a renowned historic jazz venue, featuring local talent and renowned artists in a cozy, cellar-style atmosphere.

The garden is just northwest of Restauradores and Rossio and a short walk up a slight hill west of the ritzy Avenida da Liberdade.
